AK-I Tufting Gun Disassembly and Reassembly: Advanced Video Guide
Follow EFFY's two-part archive series on dismantling and reassembling the Original AK-I cut-pile tufting gun. These recordings cover the older machine shown, including its mechanism and spare-part replacement.
For advanced owners: dismantling and reassembling the AK-I can alter its factory settings and mechanical alignment. Returning parts to the wrong positions can affect how the mechanism moves and whether the scissors open and close correctly.
Only undertake this work if you understand the gun's complete operating cycle: how the needle and scissors move, how the scissors open and close during that cycle, and the correct positioning of these parts in relation to one another. You need to understand how the parts work together so you can recognise an incorrect position or movement when putting the machine back together. If you are unsure about any of these points, contact EFFY before dismantling the machine.
01 / BEFORE DISASSEMBLY
Before taking the machine apart
- Watch both the disassembly and reassembly videos in full before starting. Identify the parts shown and how they fit and move together.
- Switch off and unplug the machine before mechanical work.
- Take clear photographs and record the positions, orientation and measurements of the parts in your working setup before removing them.
- Keep the removed parts organised and check that replacement parts match your machine.
- Contact EFFY first if you need diagnosis or warranty support.
